Fannie S. [Floyd] Conner

Aug. 6, 1864 - Sept. 8, 1886

Born:  August 6, 1864
Death:  September 8, 1886, Carroll County, Georgia

Married:  John E. Conner

Fannie died 12 days aftering giving birth to her daughter, Nellie. Fannie was 22 years old when she died.

Fannie's father was John Stovall Floyd.

Fannie's sister was Sallie Floyd Chambers.

Fannie's obituary appeared in the Carroll Free Press. Below Fannie's obituary was a short mention of Frank Ragan. A man that is also buried at the Old Villa Rica Cemetery.

Headstone:

  • Style:
Fannie is buried beneath one of two false tombs at the cemetery. Fannie's plot is near Nellie Conner's but both are set apart from the bricked off area occupied by Nancy, Anderson, and Martha Conner.

Over the years visitors have moved the top slab piece of the tomb, this has moved and weakened the supporting pieces on each end. We plan on straightening the slab piece and replacing the dirt that was once around the end pieces, so once again, the slab will be supported.

At the north end of Fannie's tomb is a small concrete slab. It's not clear as to the purpose of the slab. Conservators have speculated that the slab was to support an additional monument never put into place.

  • Condition/Status:
           Cleaned - August 2019
Structure - Supporting corners and ends have                     shifted
