HEATH

John Heath

Oct. 10, 1818 - Aug. 16, 1896

Born:  October 10, 1818
Death:  August 16, 1896
Married:
Military Service:

Discrepancy: The local SCV chapter has been putting a confederate flag on his plot, but I haven't been able to find any information confirming his military record. I've asked the SCV to share his information with me. I will update once I hear from them.

Little is of known of John Heath personally, but the Heath family is mentioned twice by Joe Cobb in his book,
"Carroll County and her People" (1907).

“Clem, Georgia a small but good business town, 5 miles a little southeast from Carrollton on the Central R. R. …Good citizens there include …Heath." pg. 39

“Cross Plains is a little town seven miles east of Carrollton. ... The District is thickly settled and there are many good farmers there such as …Heath.. and other good old and new settlers."
pg. 49

Headstone:

  • Style:  headstone in a slotted base with a footstone

  • Symbols:

  • Condition:
           Cleaned - May 2019
Structure - this area of the cemetery is very sandy,             so a small amount of rock is needed under the                     headstone to level it and prevent further sinking.
